Water Management

The EU-Water Framework Directive is now in its implementation phase!

Vattenresurs have the knowledge and experience to provide the answers and the solutions.

We worked for four years on the project that successfully made the first River Basin Management Plan according to the WFD!

Vattenresurs has built up many years of experience of Swedish water management by working with national and regional boards and municipalities. We have been a partner in the development of integrated water management in Sweden.

In the Daugavas Project in Lativa, as well as managing the project, we have been mentors and trained the staff of 10 persons. This project has completed the Daugava River Basin District Plan. It is probably the first in Europe to be in accord with the Water Framework directive and the other water linked directives.

We are supposed to have a good water status within the EU by 2015.

Urgent! We must start the work now!

We gladly share our knowledge!

It could mean:

- support in development of the plan

- training, capacity-building

- development of strategies

- development of quality objectives

- development of programs of measures

- project management

The Daugavas Project (2000-2004)

We had an important role when Latvia made their first River Basin Management Plan according to EU-water directives and national legislation. The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency contracted Vattenresurs to make the Swedish part of the project. The project is a part of the Latvian Swedish bilateral cooperation in the environmental field. The project formed a river basin authority that produced the River Basin Management plan according to EU and Latvian water legislation for the Daugava district. The strategy has been to learn by doing, in the creation of a capacity building process for a new Latvian water administration. About 40% of the Daugava River Basin is Latvian territory.

Vattenresurs has also completed several other projects within the field of water management in the Baltic states and Poland, working with the EU water framework directive and linked directives.
